Question on the final game

Hi,

I'm not a hustler and my knowledge of pool is limited and I play for fun with my friends. So in the end when they raised the game for 80k, doesn't that mean there will be only 1 game? So how did they end up playing many games (they showed turns and racking the balls)? Or is it like best out of 5 or something is the game?

I would appreciate if someone can explain.

Joe says race to 9, meaning the first one to win 9 games wins the money.

oh cool. I missed that. I heard him say last set so I thought only one game. Thanks for the explanation.

A set is a number of games, just like in tennis. Game < set < match.

A game is a single game of pool (eight ball, nine ball, one pocket, blackball, three ball, seven ball, ten ball, etc etc etc)

A set can either be a race to a certain number of games won, or you can play an "ahead set", meaning that one player must lead the other players by a certain number of games to win the set (five ahead, nine ahead, etc). A player typically cannot quit in the middle of a set without forfeiting the wager.

A match lasts for a number of sets or until someone quits between sets.
