Kingpin is funny. Its not like those drama ones, but in a way it still is.
sharePoolhall junkies is a good one. It's amazing how the director hustled the studio into getting a movie made that combines the movie The Hustler with a couple of those others on the list along with awful dialogue, bad acting, and jokes and scams that had appeared everywhere but a movie. I mean he actually got paid for this.
sharealthough i like poolhall junkies.. The Color of Money should be ranked higher than it.
shareLet's not forget "The Grifters" An intense, dark, and scary character study of 3 hustlers
Don't forget The Usual Suspects. One of the greatest hustle films ever.
"All Greeks know what is right, but only the Spartans do it."(300):3/9/07

None of the others are on the radar screen. There was an interesting Italian remake of the Hustler using a game unique to Italy, though.

It's hard to stay calm when your future relies on Five cards...
What's the Italian remake called?
shareI don't know the title, but I saw it in Japan in Italian with Japanese subtitles. I was doing better with the subtitles. I can tell you that the story was nearly identical--though a bit more upbeat. It was based on an Italian version of billiards with little pins. I think the game is called Goriziana.
shareIf you want to throw conman movies into the mix then "House of Games", "The Spanish Prisoner" and "Heist" are all great Mamet films.
