Watched this movie again last night and fell in love with it all over again, ive been reading some posts and I've got to say anyone who criticizes any movie because it's not realistic ("Oh a real pool player wouldn't do this" or "A real Pool player wouldn't bank it like that") I guess didn't get the memo that it's a movie and the whole basis of a movie is to be bred in a work of non fiction to tell a story that doesn't resemble reality. Movies were created to help people escape their mundane lives to go watch someone elses and be entertained. Whatever, this is prolly one of my top 5 favorite films, and it has some of the most quotable lines since the Godfather ("Im gonna go outside and get some smog", or "Woah Johnny I don't know if I want to be here with someone that notices a crease, in my pants") and while theres really no point to this post besides sheer admiration I was bored and thought I would say it anyway.

this film was poor.

someone recommended it saying it was awesome and they were way off.

how can you mention The Godfather in this thread you fool, it was boring and obvious and the main guy who played with walken upstairs in that fancy club was just plain annoying,

i hate this kind of crappy american film.

i didnt even get all the way through it, coz i knew what was gonna happen anyway, how can "Woah Johnny I don't know if I want to be here with someone that notices a crease, in my pants" be one of the most quotable lines since the godfather,

stand up, lower your head and run full belt into the wall.

Then take PHJ, snap it up, put it in the bin and watch godfather 1, 2 & 3 concurrently, and we will never speak of this again.

or you could give me some abuse back in your next message, i wonder what u'll do............. errrrr.....................

Just to clear up I didnt say the film was on the same level as the Godfather I said It had qoutable lines like the Godfather. Secondly I said there was no point for the post in the first place so why would argue with you on something thats sheer opinion? My friend's and I like the film, and we like Walken so thats why we like the line, its not cause he can act its the way he says the lines, just like Luke Wilson not a good actor but the way the lines are said makes them funny. Anyway, nice to know u disagree.

and how in the hell did it get a decent rating, that is beyond me.

makes me wonder how reliable u imdb 'rs are

mind you twin town only gets about 6.2 should get a 9.

First of all this is pathetic. Believe it or not your opinion is not some kind of supreme truth. Given this film's IMDB score, I'd say it has been rated as a relatively good film. You can say it sucks, the acting is poor, and whatever else you want, but really, who cares. Some of us really enjoyed it because it's just a fun movie that is full of entertainment. Not every film has to be judged on a strict criteria. Others didn't like it, they thought it was unrealistic, boring, had bad acting. That's fine, but that doesn't mean I can't think it's great movie. The more important question is why are you so concerned that other people like a movie that is so "bad."

Well it's obvious that you don't play pool, and therefore have never hustled, or tried to hustle. You have to have some compassion for the game in order to like this movie. Of course you'd say that it's awful if you don't play at all.

i do play pool and i do say this film is pooh!

i hustle aswell but we call it sharkin.

this film is just pathetic american drivel nothing to do with playin pool urself

i think it's a great movie, just got it on dvd

i don't understand the sorta person who watches a movie, then goes on their computer to complain and whinge about how bad they think it is on the internet

The people who thinkt his movie sucks, are morons. If you think this movie is bad, you have no sense of humor, and might want to see a doctor.

I'm gonna have to agree here. I mean I've seen and liked movies that IMDB rates terrible and seen and hated movies that IMDB user ratings have rated excellent, but on the whole, gotta be honest here, it's pretty up to par on what people think . Now I clearly explained what I liked about this movie and theres been some other great posts too about why they like the movie all I'm reading is "It had bad acting" and "It isn't realistic" Well I didn't know movies had to be realistic, I mean I thought it was a movie not a discovery channel or espn expose on pool and hustling. Also I gotta give credit to Mars and props-Independant movie like this, really only has like 2 stars with drawing power, I wouldn't consider Rick or Chaz up there with Walken anyway, I mean isn't that the hope of every person out there to write and act in a movie and make millions? What about the acting was piss poor anyway, where in the movie did he not come off like a street wise over egotistical punk like the character that he wrote for himself?

By the way, seen Color and Hustler and thought they were both excellent good as well. =)

I loved this movie.
Sure it's not a braincracker like Memento, but that's not what I signed up for.
It's just to light hearted, fun and entertaining movie I had hoped!
Christopher Walken en Michael Rosenbaum are two of my favorite actors and they are really good and funny!
The line where Michael say to Moose that Moos' wife is a stupid bitch cause it took her two hours to watch 60 minutes is allready a classic in my mind. It really cracked me up!

So thanx guys for that entertaining evening filled with smiles!

I effing love this movie and whoever doesn't shouldn't even bother to express themselves. Thats how serious I am about this movie, I'm willing to stomp all over the effing Constitution of America and stomp all over your 1st Amendment rights!!! =]

why does imdb recomend the woodsman under "if you like this then we recomend..."

i mean how is the woodsman similar to this, hustler i get, color of money i get, but the woodsman? wtf?

i loved this movie...but then again thats ME...basically there will be people that HATE it, dislike it, dislike it some, kinda like it, like it, really like it, love it etc...there will never be a movie that everyone in the world will all agree that they love or hate, everyone will have their opinion, so just b/c someone likes it doesn't mean its right for anyone to say "no thats not right, u can't like it, it was bad"....i mean come on...for the people that like it great i agree and so do many others hopefully some day there will be a sequel, for the ones that don't like it, sorry you watched it and didn't enjoy it, don't watch it again, don't watch the sequel, go find another movie you may enjoy...and wow this was a really long post for that...sorry...lol

This movie is the pimpness down with the sickness!! In other words I love it!!

I laugh at all the negative comments about it, I guess some people just want every movie to be true to life and just can't accept the fact that it's just made for fun and to entertain you. Their loss!!

I just watched it today on youtube since you can watch the entire movie on there, that's what brought me here to read the comments. It was about my 30th time watching it, and I'll probably watch it another 30 over the next 10 years.

My friends and I quote it daily. And it's pretty cool it was filmed in my hometown. Anyway I give it a 9 out of 10 and will never get sick of it.

It's a good flick - well, except if you get all caught up in the actual pool playing - which I could give a rat's ass about.

Some of these people should try to understand - it's not really about playing pool.

Lol I know! I love this movie for everything else besides the pool playing. The dialog has me in stitches and I love that it was filmed where I live so I recognize many of the locations when watching it. The quiet as a church dialog is some of the best I've heard in a movie. Love it.
