'Quiet as a church'
This movie basically sucks but it is enjoyable to watch at the same time. Given who was in it, it had tremendous potential to be a "real" movie. Walken, Palminteri, Steiger, all greats.
The problem is the actors who played Danny and his little brother. They tried to come off like these street smart guys and it was hilarious to watch. The affectation they put into their speech wasn't working. That "quiet as a church" line was used 3 times and it fell flat every time, even when Palminteri delivered it.
If they had better dialog and better actors for the young guys this could have been a good movie. As it is, it is still a classic because of how stupid it is. If they wanted to keep it lower budget, Ryan Gosling would have been available cheap back then. Or maybe Scott Caan.
