France Senate ducks Armenian genocide bill
Joshua Pantesco at 1:12 PM

Lawmakers in the French Senate have buried a draft bill that would have criminalized any denial that the mass killings of Armenians in Turkey during World War I constituted genocide. The bill has been taken off the Senate agenda, and as presidential and legislative elections are scheduled for April through June, the new National Assembly would have to hold a second vote on the bill to place it back on the agenda.

French lawmakers first tried to pass the bill last May, but the legislative session ended before parliament could agree on its terms. When the debate came up again in October, the Turkish parliament threatened to pass a similar bill labeling the colonial killings of Algeriansby French authorities as genocide and making it illegal to deny France's culpability. The National Assembly eventually passed the bill. France, home to thousands of Armenians, has already recognized the 1915-1919 killings as genocide. Turkey denies the genocide label , saying the killings were part of a partisan war in which many Muslim Turks died as well."

Why that news has never been published in global media?
Genocide bill was a big fuss, heard in even in Zulu Country; but its reversal was notheard in anywhere!

This is another nice example how Turkey has been unsuccesful making its own voice over Armenian issue heard globally.

World will keep on thinking that there was a French Genocide bill against Turkey even if it is not the case anymore!..

...Are you nuts? I seriously think you conjure up these little conspiracy theories in your mother's basement, get a life.

Good one! The world must hate the Turks! Besides the fact that... oh wait... no one even heard about the bill in the first place. Anyone who follows Armenian news knows about the reversal of the bill, how can you allege that this is somehow a way of silencing the Turks? As usual there is no basis for your claims, you're making mountains out of molehills.

Believe it or not, Armenian supporters don't take such a narrow, binary view of justice such that they always side with the Armenians. I'm an advocate of freedom of speech and I think that the bill passed by the French lawmakers was just a way of capturing the Armenian vote.

Ah, but it isn't enough to fight for a plausible cause like freedom of speech and instead you have to postulate that it's a 'typical' instance of Turkey against the rest of the world. I have little respect for you.
