From the world of animation, 'Doug' comes to mind. Of course, one would be remiss to forget to mention the Disney Channel's newest endeavor, 'Girls Meets World' as trying to fill that role.

However, the natural go to would be 'Leave It To Beaver', of which 'Lizzie McGuire' was the 21st century version of. There's also 'The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis'.

And then there's the Archie and gang show from the days of Radio.
