Light Travel (Adios. Aloha)
So he gets out of that one.
Why don't they just ask him to use light travel again and this time return to a different area in the room instead of the same spot.

I thought they should have asked that too. They should have asked him to go to the opposite side of the room.

Actually, he meant that if he showed them HOW to do light travel, they would blow themselves up. He meant that literally. As in humans would not be able to handle the "technology" and would *beep* it up somehow. In his eyes, showing the humans how it worked would be impossible...
shareI think it's only his concioussness that does the travel. He then travels into a body of his choosing at his destination (which is why he looks like a human on earth and a k-paxian on k-pax), which is also why he has the body of Porter.
Matter can't accelerate to light speed or faster after all, and a human body is matter and it definetly travels slower then light speed to begin with. But if something has no mass to begin with then I don't see a problem with faster then light travel.
In other words he couldn't get that body to switch locations instantly even if he wanted to.
I agree, but...he did say at some point in the film that light travel is complex and it needs proper planning, because beings and coming and going through the universe all the time, which is why he had to leave at a certain time/date.
So, did he indeed leave Robert's body and come back again? Possibly, so where did he go? another human on earth?
It's quite possible he jumped into another body in the same room for all we know, given the speed.
