Man Facing Southeast ripoff?

I mean, the plot is exactly the same!!! From a 1986 argentinian movie Directed by Eliseo Subiela.

And that is why they were sued by the makers of that film.
See the Author of K-PAX's website (Gene Brewer) for more details.

The premise is the same, but the movies are different, and Brewer's book is not similar at all to El Hombre Mirando Sudeste. Coincidences happen:

Nausea/Anguish

Holy Blood, Holy Grail/Da Vinci Code

etc.

Holy Blood, Holy Grail/Da Vinci Code
That wasn't a coincidence. The book is even mentioned in Da Vinci Code. The reason that lawsuit failed is that the authors of HB/HG asserted that it was 100% true so, therefore, the idea cannot be stolen. It would be like if I were to write a novel about the flag raising on Iwo Jima and James Bradley sued me because he had written about it previously.

the lawsuit was withdrawn, btw, as Brewer was able to prove that he'd written stuff about this character long before EHMS was made.

Been hearing a lot of good things about "Man Facing Southeast". Will have to check it out someday, since I enjoyed "K-PAX".

Yep, definitely a rip off. They are way, and I mean WAY too similar for that not to be the case.

There's a different take on this movie, like there would be with a remake, only that they decided not to credit the original.

Anyway, I like K-PAX, but Hombre Mirando al Sudeste is by far the superior movie imo. I highly recommend it to those who haven't seen it. It can be found online, for free, with English subtitles.
