Bluebird question
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why is it such a big deal when the Blue Jay shows up?
shareForgive me if this is a stupid question, but why is it such a big deal when the Blue Jay shows up?
shareHere is my interpretation:
The finding your bluebird of happiness was the 1st step of curing yourself... of,presumably, anything. On the topic, Prot said "Every being has the ability to cure themself."
Essentially, it involved finding something that inspired and gave you hope.
For the patients, it was to cure their mental health status.
For Prot, he cured his loneliness. He noted how no one would missed him on KPAX, and mentioned he would miss others when he left, making it seem he felt different than others on his planet.
For Prot, the bluebird of happiness was Earth. A place where he started a double life and had a family who loved him and filled his void of loneliness.
From the eyes of the movie, everyone got excited because a crazy man (Prot) told another crazy man (Howie) to look for the bluebird of happiness. then a bluebird shows up a few days later.
Looking deeper into the storyline, Howie was obsessive compulsive. This means he can't stop doing or thinking about anything. He always has to be doing/thinking something. So, part of his cure, was to sit there and do nothing but one thing...patiently wait for the blue bird of happiness. which he found. to help howie believe without a doubt that his advice was real, he had howie attempt to cure Ernie by trying to kill him. and it worked.
enjoy.
Howie was obsessive compulsive. This means he can't stop doing or thinking about anything.
He always has to be doing/thinking something.
You can fight my answer, but it fits perfectly. howie was obsessive compulsive. look up the definition then look at howie's behavior AFTER prot told him to look for the blue bird of happiness . ;-)

This is right, even Dr. Mark Powell say that on the movie!

@ Strazdamonas: what i mean is that, looking at all the facts, your comment was unnecessary therefore either you are a troll or lack intelligence:
The guy we are talking about is in a mental institution.
He was diagnosed with a mental illness.
Therefore whether other people in the world have a minor form of his illness is irrelevant: his case is severe that is why he is at the hospital...to be cured.
IN other words is it necessary to mention that everyone of us is dying ? when the topic is that of the terminally ill ?
troll.
In addition, you cannot seem to understand the difference between doing something like breathing and doing something as a sick person. hopeless.

Yes.
so the other people dont understand the real meaning of the bluebird.

i wondered that too, as it showed every floors patients getting worked up about it, not just those on prots floor.
shareBecause the folks responsible for the creation of this movie thought there was not enough ridiculous hokum without it. They were wrong, of course.
"facts are stupid things" - Ronald Reagan
Because Prot said it would be there. And then it appeared a few days later.
