Favorite actions films of the last ten years.

These are my favorite action movies of the last ten years. I intentionally left out any films with strong sci-fi, fantasy, or horror elements. I also left out comic book adaptations, hence the absence of The Dark Knight, which was better than any film on my list here (though I probably enjoyed Taken a little more).

Jet Li and Jason Statham were my favorite action stars of the decade (which makes it quite disappointing that War was a letdown). Though with just one film, I thought Liam Neeson delivered the best performance in an action film in Taken.

I don't feel any particular director dominated the genre, though Pierre Morrel and Louis Leterrier are definitely rising up there in Hollywood (and not uncoincidentally, directed my two favorite action movies of the decade). It's too bad Chris Nahon, another Besson protege, hasn't had the same success. I thought he did a terrific job with Kiss of the Dragon.
