Were they romantically invoved? It seemed by the end of the movie there was some evidence of it, but I'm not sure.

Every time I see this movie again, I like to think that she and her daughter go to China with him, that they help each other to become more 'normal' / fulfilled and yes, have a life together. My brother never got a sense of "spark" from their interactions, and who knows maybe it's because I'm a woman, but I always end up thinking there's a spark there. :)
