I saw this movie on HBO well after it was released and loved it. Did this movie get bad reviews when it came out or something? This is such a great movie, I mean i could see why some people wouldnt like it but it should be at LEAST a 6.5 or higher

The worst rating on IDMB (10's to epic movie and the sort and 1's to good movies like dark night and the such) given to movies are from women (Usually 30' and 45+ in age)
Do some research before you follow the bandwagon and blast kids.. Kids do not waste their time giving a one rating to movies, they will spam other movies instead(Obviously I am kidding) like Miley Cirus or whatever the hell.
And just to add, if you would please check the ratings given to this movie, you should shut your ignorant mouth and realize that kids (18 and under) have given a higher average rating than any other age group.
So really, STFU and GTFO before you hurt yourself.
This movie was released later than expected because Benicio Del Toro injured his wrist diving for a knife in a stunt w/ Tommy Lee Jones. When it was finally released, audiences were not in the mood for a realistic action film like this probably because of the violence in Iraq. A hint to this was another live action film called, "Tears of the Sun" with Bruce Willis released just before "The Hunted" which earned about the same in the box office.
Yes this is a great movie that could have been even better - much was taken out. It sould have been over two hours in length, but 30 minutes of the chase drama was cut out - just when it get's exciting. Just think about how cool William Freidkin directed the suspense drama in "The French Connection". Del Toro hiding in the city before breaking out "into the wild" could have been more more suspensful with a few more trists and turns.
PS - My son was in this film, that why I track it's prograss.

shareI agree, I was surprised it was rated so low. But the first time I saw it three years ago when I was 14 I did not like it very much. I'm not sure if it was because I was expecting a different type of movie, but today I thought I would give it another try, and found that now I really like it. So it could be that a lot of people thought it would be less realistic or more of a brainless action flick.
They were gonna make me a major for this, and I wasn't even in their *beep* army anymore.
also very shocked at the rating. friedkin made a great movie with some of the best fight scenes i've ever seen. one of my favs.

I think its one of those movies you really enjoy or just don't get it, if you enjoy the woods, knife fights, Del Toro and Jones then your gonna give this movie a ten. I don't know, in my opinion you either love it or hate it.

Well i dont particuarly enjoy any of those things. I just thought it was a very gripping, well made thriller. After I saw this I became more interested in Del Toro and took more notice of him. I think what attracted me to it in the first place was Tommy Lee Jones, who is always great

Not sure why it ever made it above 5. You combine zero character development with very stupid knife fights and ---- what else was in the movie that's worth mentioning? oh yeah right; nothing ---- and how it got more than a 4 I cannot imagine.
Some people are on the "let's all vote 10 bandwagon" but they don't say why. I guess they have some kind of financial link to the movie.
This film was a very low point in the careers of all involved.
