How can people stand to live in Spokane/Seattle?

Or, anywhere in the NW. Man, no sun. Or very little of it. And, rain, rain, rain.

What can be good there?

Not putting anyone down, because so many people stay there, just curious.

Actually, that's a myth that we (the NW) foster for our own amusement - that we get no sun. We get quite alot. But, yes, we do get a fair amount of wet weather systems.

Personally, I love the rain. First four years of my life were spent on the egde of one of California's minor deserts. The heat in summer was unforgiving, I can still remember it right through to me bones...no air conditioning either. Portland is a blessed relief, but the summers still get plenty hot and dry.

It actually rains more in new york then it does here believe it or not. The rain is just spread out across the seasons here unlike new york were is just dumps on everything.

I live in the Tri-Cities which is in southeastern Washington. Which is a semi-arid climate (basically a desert) where we only get 7 to 8 inches of rain fall a year, about 300 days of sunshine, very little snow in the winter and temps range from 10 to 110 degrees F. Much of eastern Oregon and southern Idaho are the same. This is due to a rain shadow effect caused by the Cascade Mountain Range. So its a myth that all of the PNW is rainy 200+ days a year. Once you cross the Cascades its like that.
