Is anybody else just sick of Ice Age?

This first film was terrific. Far from my favorite animated movie but when you look back at everything else that came out at the time, and what we've later received, it stands out as a great movie.

The sequel pretty much could have just been called "Ice Age 2: The Search For More Money". Aside from the Scrat scenes, even my 14 year old self back then knew it was garbage. I didn't even bother with Dawn of the Dinosaurs but it seems impossible to escape this franchise. Scrat shorts that seem to be in front of every Fox movie, a Christmas special 9 years after the first movie came out (another rant for another time) and a FOURTH film?!

They've milked this franchise more than even Shrek was milked by DreamWorks. I try to ignore it but there's no escaping Ice Age. It's insanity I tell ya! I just wish Blue Sky would make more original movies than doing another god damn Ice Age.

I'm actually glad Ice Age is a success, and hasn't been forgotten yet, as I'm a big fan of the original, The Meltdown and the Surviving Sid short.

The first one is great, I found the 2nd funny when it came out but watching it recently, it's really lost what was special about the first one and is just another lame animated film.

I think it suffered from "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" syndrome where it lost the seriousness and danger of the original and was too much of a kiddies movie.

Seeing as how both the last two sequels made well over $800 million apiece, I doubt we'll be seeing the last of 'em anytime soon...

^That might not be true believe it or not. Blue Sky Studios has announced the movies they are making from 2014-2017 and none of them are Ice Age. Sequels have come out 6 years after their predecessor but it would be weird for one that's been a huge cash cow up to this point to wait that long...

Unless they start making more than one movie a year...

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

I don't pay any attention to the sequels. As far as i'm concerned they don't exist. I just love the original.
