a darker version

This is something I would love to see a darker version, maybe as a TV show, a la Riverdale. Something a little camp, but geared towards a more sinister, serialized feel. Something that starts as mystery of the week, but morphs into having a big bad. The Season 1 finale reveals that one of the four teens died, but that's it, no who or how given. That's revealed in the Season 2 finale. Season 3 shows the death was faked for reasons. Scooby himself would be hard to manage in this context, but maybe instead he has a minor role, like Salem in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (not a great example I know, but you get it), or maybe Season 1 is about Scooby's death, or maybe there's a fifth human friend who has those characteristics (which is basically Shaggy), or worst, he's a figment of their imaginations a la Wilfred.
