I only saw the ending so I really don't know. The cars look futuristic and stuff.
shareAround 2001, just like when it came out. There's these scenes where in one dimension, they show President George W. Bush on TV, and President Al Gore in another dimension.
It's probably that some dimensions develop technology sooner than others. Those cars in Gabe's new dimension are real, just not that popular in our real world at the time.
I think the cars that we see in that dimension are actually concept cars.

No, he was referring to CARS, so he was talking about the modern day dimension.
It seems to take place in present day, but there are differences in dimensions that might not make it seem totally like that. You'll understand if you watch the prior hour and 20 minutes of the movie.
