How did the prison world get like that?

Why is it all dark and gloomy, Did a meteor hit it or something.. what is you're theories on it? It is an alternate Earth after all.

Different universe, different laws of nature, different worlds, different climate, different weather conditions. A prison on Mars would be not the same like on Earth. ;-)

Yes but is IS Earth they are on.

yeah but is IS earth they areon

I would state: maybe. ;-)

IMHO it could have been earth, maybe heavily polluted by industry. Damaged after some atomic war or asteroid as you said.

Looking at the last seconds of the film, the scenery shows lots of big buildings and technology.

BTW: Interesting thought whether Yulaw could be "king" in this dark world. Even if he is 60 or 120 times faster and stronger and needs 120 times less sleep than the people on Stygian penal colony, there are thousands, tens of thousands heavy criminals which want to kill him. Does he possess the power to survive?

Much could be answered in a sequel where Yulaw tries to escape from Stygia and is looking for Gabe on some unknown planet (unknown for Yulaw). Or Gabe wants to become master of the universe and travels to Stygia.

I've avoided the sequel threads but when you say that I'm reminded of Undisputed 2, where the bad guy from the first film is the main character and it shows how he's doing and how he copes, etc, and what changes. Bearing that in mind I now wouldn't mind seeing sequal where Li takes over that world or something.

Kung fu movies are like porn. There's 1 on 1, then 2 on 1, then a group scene...

Who pays for that prison? I mean, is that universe used solely for that prison facility by the wormhole policing universe? If so, then do the taxpayers of the latter universe pay for the prison system on the Hades universe? That would mean prison personnel would all have to have wormhole passports so they could rotate their shifts, or at least take a vacation...

One of the strange things about the place they sent him, is the fact that he may have been damaged there, or worst, killed.

Which was the main thing they were trying to prevent in the first place. So why send him to a dangerous place like that anyway?

reply

My thought on why they put him there was that, (like statham said earlier) IF he dies he may take their universe with him. So if he dies it is possible that he takes the Penal universe away.

I think the penal universe itself is Earth sametime frame just major events have changed the course of modern society.

I hardly think that he is the first to try what he did, and there are probably others like him or close.. but personally different time different rules is why that place is like that..
