Did Avengers #267-268 inspire the story for this movie? * SPOILERS *

If you've read these issues, it concerns Kang the Conqueror going about killing off all his other counterparts in other realities and replacing them with robots at his command. His main goal is to rule all time and realities by being the only Kang around.

These issues came out in the '80s, so probably the scriptwriters for The One might have been inspired by it.

Highlander also came out in the 80s, which also may have inspired the scriptwriters.
