i just read the review on the ones imdb and th writer says he assumes that it is set in our universe but i dont think it is. i think the news item with president Bush talking about free health car is supposed to indicate it isnt. any thoughts?
Oh yeah blantantly a seperate 'verse' to our own. Can anyone imagine Bush even considering universal healthcare...uhhhm nope. He was too busy organising how to finish his daddies work.
Y'know lead lined fridges are so durable they can withstand thermo nuclear explosions!?!
Well, I watched an episode of "The Universe" the other day, and apparently the idea of a Multiverse is an accepted theory among astrophysicists. However, in that theory there are an infinite number of universes in the multiverse (not just 123). It has to do with something about the fact that our universe has a finite size. So another universe is out there beyond the borders of our universe, and so on.
In a way, this movie was kind of silly. Every time a black hole develops, another universe is created...? I agree with others that the movie could have been SO much better than it was.
I felt that the music was a major distraction too. This was specially the case during the climactic scene. I had caption on, and the lyrics were "we kill ourselves, we kill each other, we kill, kill, kill." How corny. Anyway that kind of music works for a movie like XXX, but not science fiction. IMO.
One of us missed something. It wasn't every time a black hole forms a new universe is formed, it was they got access to a new universe. At least that was how I understood it.
This is not my kind of movie, but I like Jet Li. I came home tired, a half hour into this movie and got totally sucked in. I'll watch it again, maybe not 123 times, but I will watch it again. They did well with what they had and that's the best anyone can expect from others or themselves.
"One of us missed something. It wasn't every time a black hole forms a new universe is formed, it was they got access to a new universe. At least that was how I understood it." That was certainly how I understood it.
"There are times when you can only take the next step. And then another."
I think showing Bush was supposed to make us think it was our universe, but free health care (I'm assuming he said that, I forgot) is kind of an unrealistic thing in our world, so perhaps reading between the lines they're saying it's not our universe, but a very close one. This is one of a few deep sentiments in this movie that are hidden by all the generic dialogue and "hardcore" music.
