Better than the Matrix

Nuff said.

The One lacked almost everything The Matrix has - acting, depth and most importantly coherencekunpeng008 the acting in the matrix was crap two words Keanu revees
better than the matrix? This was an mtv video thriving and focusing on action rather than the film as a whole. Matrix was much more complex. I'm not saying The One is utter garbage, because it has some entertaining action scenes good for nights where you just can't be bothered sitting down and concentrating on a serious movie and want something in the background
shareSeriously? The only way you can put "The one" and "The Matrix" in the same sentence is to say "The One cannot even compare to how awesome the Matrix is."
This movie (the one) had some much potential to be awesome - great concept and Jet Li, but wound being a completely mediocre, forgettable film in the end.
This movie had no reason to exist. It was just a sorry excuse to have Jet Li on the screen fighting himself. Moreover, whatever talent Li has (obviously limited to martial arts and does not include acting) was totally wasted. Look, Jet Li is a real martial arts expert. So if you cast Jet Li, then show us some real Kungfu. If you use computer effects and show the hero dodging bullets, etc., then Keanu Reeves or any other actor will do just as fine. In this respect, the comparison with The Matrix is actually valid. Compared to the other film, The One also failed as a science fiction movie in that the implications (e.g., philosophical, moral) of individuals in a multi-universe were never examined. As for the action, it was like watching a computer game.
shareI agree, this should be a trilogy. One movie doesn't justify the complexity and depth of this movie.
shareHenrycw - ever see "Unleashed?" Li can act as well.
shareIf you want to see proper acting of Jet Li, then you should watch a lot of his chinese movies. His infamous Once Upon a Time in China series or Fong Sai Yuk series are well made movies. Proper martial arts with excellent acting.
In English, I think Romeo must die wasn't that great (entertaining but not performance) but Kiss of the Dragon and Unleashed are excellent performance movies.
Some of the movies he made were crappy. But then every actor has done some crappy works in their time.

I agree. Have you seen the crappy way they used him in Expendables? He barely has enough screen time compared to the American actors. While I can respect Jason Stratham, Jet Li would kick more asses than Jason ever could. Sadly they don't use his potential in that movie series.

LOL, right answer. I must add, The Matrix was for persons with some IQ, and The One is for kids, just like a cartoon movie.
shareClearly a troll thread. The OP is just attention seeking or blind.
shareDon't know what's worst. Being blind, or so desperatly attention sick that she'd trolled an IMDB thread for acknowledge. But definitely OP must be smoking some *beep* crack.
This is not even close to The Matrix. This is a movie that just wishes by all it's power, that it was The Matrix. The special effects and the story just makes me feel that this movie really wanted to be as awesome as The Matrix. But it failed, it failed on so many levels. The acting, the story, the fighting, the special effects, the choreagraphy, the soundtrack and so on. If a person prefers The One over The Matrix, then that person must be slightly retarded.

No, it really isn't. The story is also much simpler than The Matix, and yet somehow makes less sense.
