Is that normal - about the hole in the floor.

I know it is a movie, but I am still going to ask this question.
Alex fiddled with the water pipes in Mrs. Connely's bathroom making them leak. This caused the floor boards to rot. Then when Mrs. Connely was doing river dance, the floor boards broke in the middle of the living room.
Could that happen IRL. I would think that the floor would rot in the bathroom first.
I am thinking, that if the floor does break, it would break in the bathroom first.
Or does the water run all over the place, and the floor broke in the living room because of the dancing.

And btw, I think it would take more than a leaking pipe to cause a huge hole in the floor.
