Larenz Tate

I've always liked Larenz Tate.

Ever since I saw him in Menace II Society back in '93. But after this time he havn't done something really good, have he ? Except Dead Presidents of course. I havn't seen A Man Apart - is it worth watching ? Does Tate have a big part in this movie ?
Bye the way I'm not a great Vin Diesel fan either.

I like Larenz Tate pretty much too. I think he stole the show with a far superior performance than Vin Diesel in this gritty action flick. Diesel is nothing special. He shows a little emotion, though, but that about it. Larenz Tate, on the other hand, is much more interresting as the sidekick. I especially liked the scene where Tate negociates with a guy in an attic while Diesel shuts up and remains downstairs. You should take a look at A man apart. tate is pretty good. At least better than Diesel.

Hey Big Movie Guy. Vin Diesel showing little emotion in this movie, Oh my gosh, give me a break. With Vin losing his wife and all the fighting and punching Vin done on all those guys in this movie. Vin had so much emotion he couldn't even control himself from just beating people to death. Yes, and Tate showed a lot of emotion too though.

How does shooting and punching people equal emotion? Vin Diesel is normally a pretty good actor but he was down right horrible in this movie. He tried to go for the dark and brooding look, but instead ended up looking confused and constipated. His dialogue carried no weight to it. Also, his relationship with his wife was built so poorly in the movie that it means nothing when she dies. She was a background character. How can I root for the protagonist if I didn’t care for his cause? I read some other posts regarding this movie and I have to agree that the studio did a patch job of putting it together. The pacing was terrible. It’s a shame because I actually like Vin. In “Pitch Black” he was great and had an impressive screen presence. Ever since they packaged him into this leading man/action hero thing, he’s just been sucking. I hate seeing bad movies bring good actors down. I hope he makes a smart decision regarding his next flick.

Larenz Tate is a beautiful and talented man. He is definately worth watching in this movie. He was awesome in "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" as Frankie Lymon, and my absolute favorite movie with him in it is "Love Jones". It had me jones for him BAD.

One excellent (IMO) movie starring Larenz Tate that no one has yet mentioned is The Inkwell. Came out the year after Menace and was a totally different type of character for Tate-- really deepened my appreciation of his acting skill that he took two roles that different and made them both his own so well.
