Summary: Good god!!! somebody stop Vin Diesel!
Good god!!! How do i even start to explain how bad this is? If you have seen XXX you surely know what Vin, (and Hollywood for that matter) is capable of (thats _not_ a compliment for those of you without a brain). I honestly did not think it got any worse as far as swiss cheese plots and piss poor acting, but alas, Hollywood has set a new low (not suprisingly). I am sure when it finally comes out in the theatre they will just throw a few million at it with markenting strategies.
Well here we go -- Vin is a 'bad boy' cop that arrests the mexico concaine kingpin. Everything is fine then 'suprisingly enough' tragedy strikes and his wife is killed by masked gunman supposedly working for the kinpin he arrested. Yawn. Anwyay he is shot up and recovers to get revege. Sound familiar yet? Ok, well he gets real mad and with help from the kingpin, which has admitted he did not kill Vin's wife, he gets revenge. Fast forward through about 45 mins of violence and gunbattles...Eventually he makes a promise with the kinpin to set him free when he finds the killer, and he goes to mexico to find/kill "El Diablo" who put the hit out on his wife for some unknown reason. So he kills him. Insert 1 GENERIC, OVIOUS, plot twist (with reguards to the identity of 'El Diablo'), and thats 2 hours summed up, but that sad thing is your not missing anything at all, the movie is that transparent. And yes, we NEVER see the kingpin again with whom Vin has made the promise to set free. But thats ok because 95% of viewers are morons and dont care anyway, as long as we see gunbattles and violence.
I give this movie a 3 out of 10, and thats generous. The only reason why is that I didnt have to pay to see this tragedy, and even so I feel like someone owes me something for wasting 2 hrs of my life. Since Boiler Room Vin Diesel has taken a nose dive for the awfuly acted, and with movies like XXX, (and dare i even mention) Fast and the Furious under his belt, there is no end in sight. Apparetly, the more lines you give him the more he shows what a typical hollywood action actor he is. What a shame. With good 'drug kingpin' movies out there like Scarface they should be ashamed of themselves to try to break into this genre. thx SMR.
