Excuse me if I seem ignorant,but I didn't understand who Diablo was. Was it Memo all along? If so did he kill his own family and sabotage his own network?
And why did he send Vin in this wild goose chase? to get rid of the competition?
in the original script, Diablo was supposed to be Memo's number 2 man. then it got rewritten and you now have an ending that makes no sense
sharei actually have a workprint of the movie with the original ending. and yes it was much better. but also much longer.
shareIf jdavermann os correct, then they shoulda kept with the original ending. This one seemed too far-fetched and seemed to only be this way so the makers of the movie can add one final twist. Making Memo be Diablo seemed like a stretch. Like's its that way only for the sole purpose of having a twist.
Surely, if he was Diablo, and wanted out of prison that badly, I'm willing to bet he could have found a way to do it without killing his own wife and child. Its Mexico, they coulda faked thier deaths easily.

Besides, I took the whole wiping out his own network thing as sort of a razing, starting fresh, severing old connections, potential leaks, any weak spots that might lead the cops back to him again
