Was this named after a film....?

Was this infact named after a film made in 1924? Because this film was set in 1924 but the film also called The Cats Meow MADE in 1924 has nothing to do with this film.

The cat's meow was a popular phrase in the 20's that meant the equivalent of "really cool". I think both movies were named after that phrase.

Tom Ince (Cary Elwes) says early on that the weekend was going to be "the cat's meow." I have watched this movie about 15 times on tv and I just bought and watched the dvd the other day and it's the first time I've ever noticed him saying it. The other poster is correct, that it was a popular phrase, but I'm sure it became the title from that line.
