How can no one mention that it could have been Chaplin! (spoiler)

I'm shocked that I've yet to read or hear anyone (like Izzard as Chaplin) say that if this account is correct, that it could have been Chaplin who was killed by Hearst!

What if Chaplin had still been sitting there? Could they have used the Lita Ford pregnancy and the comparable flop of "A Woman in Paris" to say he tried to kill himself?

Thank god it didn't go that way.

I am reading Chaplin's autobiography at the moment he says he was not on the cruise and was informed by Elinor that Ince had a heart attack and had to leave the ship. He also says that he, Marion and WR visited Ince after this incident and that Ince was happy to see them and saying he would be well soon.

Lita Ford? The woman from the Runaways? Or Lita Grey? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lita_Grey

Lita Ford got pregnant and she tried to pass Chaplin as the father ? Those rock girls are really a disgrace.

The whole point of the movie is that they're going with the theory that Hearst shot Ince thinking that Ince WAS Chaplin ...

That's because it's *incredibly* tacky to actually thank God that an innocent person died instead of someone else.

Just have to say

discussing that it could have been Chaplin that was shot is like discussing - did any one notice this took place on a boat? .....
It was kinda obvious if you were watching the movie.
