I'm 14 and i've been a huge Hunger Games fan (movies and books) since like 2012 and didn't hear about this movie until just last year. It looks interesting, as it has the "same story" as THG (and BR2 like Mockingjay), but I've heard this movie is REALLY violent, gory etc. So is this like Saw? i kind of wanna see this but i'm afraid to lmao. (i can handle such things like 'the vampire diaries' which is really bloody but not really saw-like) so what do you think? and no, i haven't seen Saw

Battle Royale is not a horror movie. It has no gratuitous splatter horror scenes. It is very violent, but, except for a few effects that will probably strike you as rather cheesy, the violence isn't graphic. If the story sounds interesting to you, by all means give it a try.

Bear in mind, though, that it's much less like THG than the internet might have you believe.

Haha, THG isn't the reason I got interested, but THG is the reason I know about this movie because of all the trolls

Yeah that book was pretty violent for YA fiction

Well that's debatable. Personally I find gore a lot easier in written media than I do in visual media, because it's less visceral and in-your-face. The way I put it is, if you're reading a book or comic, the intensity is controlled by your imagination, and generally won't be harder than you can handle. A film or show or game is something with images presented to you and is therefore not controllable, and is far more likely to be more than whatever your threshold is at.

In my case I suppose it's not gore specifically, as I find general action and war films absolutely fine, but I have a much harder time with horror and especially slasher stuff... it's a different kind of reaction. I guess I find general action things more exciting or sad than scary?
