The creepiest thing Sy did
Was show up at Jake's soccer game. If I had been Jake I would have told my coach and made him call the police. Yet Jake somehow walks along and talks to Sy like he is normal something.

shareyeah that was a really uncomfortable scene. its a classic scenario that every good parent warns their children about. really poor decision on the coaches part to not keep an eye on them.
shareWhich is one thing which is unbelievable about this movie. Normal people would have been more suspicious of Sy.
shareI think the coach initially did think it was suspicious for Sy to be there and he does ask Jake if everything is ok. However, if I was the coach, I would have confronted Sy and asked him why he was there talking to Jake.
shareYeah even the kid thought it was strange. Though Sy didn't do anything wrong, it was still kinda creepy and not something I'd do.
Y'know, I could eat a peach for hours
Taking a dump in their toilet. (In the original screenplay, he really did break into their house.)
shareAmen. That scene made me very nervous for Jake.
Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar and doesn't.
Yes, I agree as a parent that frightened me. A child would see nothing wrong with that because Sy isn't a "stranger" in his eyes. But, it would set off red flags right away with a parent.

What's especially interesting though ... both the writer/director and Robin Williams note that Jake (the kid) knew something was off, too. That's why he didn't take the toy.
Oddly, my own biggest laugh of the movie is during that scene with the commentary playing
While Sy's talking to Jake, Robin Williams adds "do you like movies about gladiators?"
I've heard Williams is often funniest off camera during dramas, like this film, but he's dead serious between takes on movies like "Mrs. Doubtfire"
It's like he needed to get the "funny" out of his system
And to save anyone else the trouble - they also reveal during the commentary that, towards the end, Sy runs through a corporate presentation to evade the cops. Knowing that it had been a long day for everyone, Williams did at least one take, without warning, stripped down to his underwear
I’ve heard similar stories about Robin Williams. I can be the same way. As a kid in class I was always teachers pet at least in elementary school. But I’d get home and say I had to get my wiggles out and just do a crazy dance and let out silly noises. It was almost like a sneeze I held back all day then I had to let it out. I can be that way as an adult too and unfortunately sometimes I can’t hold it back. That results in embarrassing moments.
