A student asked today in class - why would the family choose to have their daughter married in the monsoon season? (Apart from the fact that the director chose it for dramatic effect.)

In which month would this film have been made?
I have lived in bombay for a while and monsoon season is in june-july-august, the significant part of the season at least...so im guessing it probably is in Delhi too.
No clue as to when this film would have been made, there r not so many scenes where they actually show rain, just towards the end i think:)
And as for the family choosing to have their daughter married in the monsoon season...im not too sure but i think it is is because the months of june-july-august, roughly, are summer months in europe and north america, so Indians abroad come back down to india for holidays and subsequently in india it is the monsoon season.In the movie i think thats y the guy who comes down from the states arrives during the monsoons.(im not too sure if im right , its just that my family used to do that) so thats y im guessing it was a monsoon wedding.
