Part 2? Is there going to be a part 2 then?

I take a class on screenwriting here in India, and the movie is running for the students in the background. I wanted to see the reaction of the international audience, and i was flabbergasted the the fantastic response.
there wont be a part 2 for the reason that this movie has a sense of je ne cest quois, that was captured brilliantly. We see this happening everyday (i mean the weddings) Honestly, the over the top celebrations bug me. Mira nair found an outsider perspective on this and made one of the finest movies, about nothing. i call such movies a 'Seinfeld' category.

If you care for a recommendation, i would recommened a few feel good, or good quality movies.
just reply to this post and tell me who the audience will be and i will draw up a list that will suit all.

I'm very surprised to hear that you think it was a good movie about nothing, because I actually thought it was, as well as a really enjoyable movie, a really interesting perspective on Indian culture, especially the whole arranged marriage business. As someone who hasn't had a lot of exposure to this in my Midwest American life, I really thought the movie was the perfect blend of serious and fluffy, great actors and music, serious and funny. I definately agree with what you say about there being no part 2- I can't imagine that a second film could capture the same spirit, and it would undoubtably just be a let-down.

I have now seen this movie many times. The first time, I was vaguely impressed, but only after seeing lots of other Indian movies since do I realise the heights of communication that Mira Nair achieved in this film. Just a few days ago, I watched Guru, and I must say it did not meet my expectations.
