P.K. Dubey's proposal to Alice?

When he has the whole setup with the large candleholder ornamented with marigolds, is kneeling on the red carpet surrounded by candles and is holding the marigolds crafted into a heart, which he offers to Alice when she emerges from the kitchen, is this his actual proposal to her or to show how much he loves her? Excuse me if I don't know the terminology or am unfamiliar with this custom.

ive been to my cousin's wedding... all 3 of them actually... and i agree that it is not the way to propose punjabi or sikh style... its not wrong... where there is love, anything doesnt metter... right...

I think he was also still in the process of seeking forgiveness from her because they hadn't spoken since she became angry with him. So I think it was a symbol of his feelings for her and also an apology.

he's a wedding planner so he went all out. someone needs to make me a heart shaped bouquet of roses.

I'd say it was a show of love, not an actual proposal.

It was and is to this day the most romantic scene I have ever seen in a movie. I didn't take it as a formal proposal but a very pure, naked expression of deep love, need and passion which could ultimately have no other conclusion than marriage.
