Help.... Please?

I recently watched this movie for a term paper due in a religions course. However, I have a few questions for anyone who can help.

1) I noticed in a thread already started about the marigolds. I assume they're definitely a traditional wedding flower? Is there a particular reason behind the significance of the marigolds?

2) What religion is Aditi's family? I had assumed Hindu, but found in another website they're Punjab...

3) Is there anything else in this movie of signficance to the religion of the family (i.e. traditional wedding, etc.)?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it!!!

I can answer u little bit...

1. Marigold flowers widely used in india for garlands. They are excellent for garland making and also u can extract their petals and use as flower carpet..

2. Obviously Aditi's religion is hindu, but she may be belongs to sikh religion of Punjab. There is not much difference between hindu and sikh i think. Because both celebrate the same festivals like Diwali, Holi etc.

3. I don't know exactly what u meant, but some significances of movie are
Strong family values of india.
Fight against child incest which is uncommon in india.
Parents struggle for a good marriage etc.

Hope these helps u little.. thanks

They are supposed to be Hindu, but you can be hindu and come from Punjab. Which will make you a Hindu Punjabi.

Hey,
Marigolds...hmm....exactly i don't know what's the significance, but yellow color is considered auspicious in hindu religion and culture and is widely used for ceremonies.
About Aditi, she is a hindu but her family is Punjabi hailing from Punjab, you can be a hindu and at the same time be from south india or elsewhere so it does'nt really have any connection with it. Thier family is Punjabi hindu.
Otherwise, as someone pointed out earlier about incest, i disagree, it is common, it is just under the covers and people don't come out. It has nothing to do with India or some other country or any religion.

Then, you can notice a few things in terms of the groom's grandmother wanting to see her great grandSON before she dies, in India even now (tho not much) the stress is on a babyboy.
Then somewhere (it's a minute detail) Neha Dubey A.K.A Ayesha talks about the boy "Idiot" liking "sati savitri" girls, the meaning is something which i am sure of, someone who is simple not too mordern in terms of her dressing. These days people hardly go for such things, but it's there nevertheless.

I guess it's pretty much it, there are small details.

1) Colours in indian religions:
Red: Indicates both sensuality and purity. Frequently used for auspicious occasions. A red mark is put on the forehead during ceremonies and important occasions.
Yellow: It is the color of knowledge and learning. It symbolizes happiness, peace, meditation, competence and mental development.
Saffron: The most sacred color. Represents fire and as impurities are burnt by fire, this color symbolizes purity.

2) Aditi's family are hindu's from the punjabi sect. Also they belong to higher middle class. The other character named "P K Dubey" is from a hindu brahmin family but he belongs to a working middle class.

3) Hindu symbols like the swastika and portraits of radha and krishna could be seen in lalits house. Aditi's father is definitely from a high caste hindu because can be seen wearing a holy string on his left hand throughout the movie. BUT THEY ARE NOT BRAHMINS. Rajput caste probably(assuming from the turbans at the wedding). "P K Dubey" is from a higher caste than lalit verma.

Almost all the name of the characters are hindu.
