Presidents can’t write shit. Kennedy’s speech writer was Ted Sorensen. The line was an interpretation of a line from FDR’s 1936 nomination speech. So, ask not what your leaders allegedly wrote. Ask what YOU THINK.

I heard a little story once where after Churchill and Roosevelt had met they were going to issue statements. Roosevelt and his staff were still working on theirs when Churchill broadcast his. The American staff were bemused - how did Churchill produce it so fast. And Roosevelt pointed out that 'he rolled his own'.
