sharemoreover: martin lawarence travels back in time to medieval england (its a well known maxim in the film industry that if it's a 'period' movie it means casting for white actors only) and just manages to find the only black woman to be seen anywhere to hook up with. that was convinient, huh? I mean, medieval england but there still had to be a black actress shoe horned into the story somewhere for some love interest. of course she couldn't be 'too black' so that the white love 'rival' could plausibly be interested in her too.
you know what the only other option would have been? yep, NO love interest. sad, huh?
No love interest? what about Regina? I think there was quite a bit of love interest there... though perhaps a bit one sided. I suppose Hollywood selected Regina because she's a redhead, and there's been a tradition of racism against redheads too.
Well, there is, and this movie has quite a bit of blackxploitation, but I think we're stretching things a bit to claim that Lawrence didn't have some say in what happened.
Seems pretty accurate to me, England is crawling with redheads.
shareDamn F!cking Right Redheads Take Over The World< Higher IQ, Higher Threshhold To Pain Redheads Are F"cking Hardcore, Female Redheads Are The Sexiest Things On 2 Legs Fiesty Fun & Sexually Enlightened. P.s fake tans look like sh!t. Long Live Those Ivory Skinned Beauties.
shareThere's been PREJUDICE aganst red-haired people in Hollywood, not racism. Red-hair is NOT a race of people. I understand what you're saying, though and your point is true.
Racism against red-haired people would be racism against ALL WHITE PEOPLE - as re-haired people are white peoplw
but weren't there black/Islamic people in Europe back then (who were not slaves)? That's why the black characters are called Moors through out some parts of the movie (the main knight guy called Martin Lawrence character a Moor every now and then). I believe the Moors were people of dark/brown skin who were Islamic who invaded Spain. I read this some where, maybe in my history class. and i'm kind of late (3 years).
Warner Music Group Sucks!
Actually medieval Europe had a lot of Moorish merchants and visitors, as well as a large portion of white slaves. I believe the same holds true for colonial America.
The whole slavery-race connection was invented by Americans in the 20th century.
