1st time viewing this film / My thoughts and 1 simple query (spoiler)

I'm not a fan of Bill Paxton really or many of the former middle aged actors like (kevin costner, dennis quaid etc) so thats probably why this film slipped past me for so long.

After watching The Mothman Prohecies (albeit finally as well) I read some of the board and they recommended this, and I figured what the hell it's got McConaughey and a dark theme, could be some semblance of True Detective origin material. Ha, there was that a bit. But I'll be honest, you could tell the FBI cop who's office he was sitting in from the beginning was shady right from the start, so things weren't going to bode well for him.

I don't think the film deserves a 7.3 / 10 but to each their own. Bill Paxton just doesn't convince me as a starring actor (unless he's just saying 'Brah' in Nightcrawler in some tiny role.) I just felt McConaughey saved grace for this film, otherwise it felt like a TV movie... And McConnaghey wasn't even really all that special with what limited screen time he had.

With all that off my chest (sorry I know its frequent on IMDB,) why is McConaghey listed as Fenton on IMDB but Adam in the film's rolling credits? Is it just so people don't get spoiled right away if they do a little research of casting on this site?

I wondered the same thing and assumed it was to not give away any spoilers.

Cheers for reaffirmation!

I hope my initial post didn't set anyone off, it's just my personal take. I didn't think it was a horrendously done film. I'd give it a 5/10 but I'm just not rushing to suggest it to anyone nor re-watching it any time soon.
