too obvious?

i think it was much too obvious he was going to be adam

I thought the same from the moment we first see the brothers as children, as their hair colors didn't match up with their present selves'. Adam's hair supposedly went from light brown to dark and the reverse goes for Fenton. I immediately dismissed this thought and went ahead believing his story, but as it continued, I thought this being a twist later on got more and more probable. Either way, from the way he behaved, it was clear pretty soon that the confessor had a hidden agenda (him being either Adam or Fenton), so I also called the twist that the FBI agent would be on his list for some reason.

I still enjoyed it as a thriller, but the twist would've had more impact if they hid it just a little better. Of course, it's very hard these days to pull of a twist like this in these kind of films. The first person I suspect of being the murderer/antagonist is always the main character, Frailty being no exception, so I immediately start looking for clues that confirm this.

I didn't know that he was going to be Adam until they showed the twist. I only knew that their was going to be a twist and that Matthew McConaughey will kill the agent.

I must be slow because I didn't forsee anything. Then again I don't attempt to ruin movies for myself looking for clues.

This!

Still Shooting With Film!

I saw it coming.

No, there was nothing obvious. You and the other 'super genius' are just average stupids making a lucky guess. That's all.

reply

@tarm668 Lucky guess? If it had been finn all along then it would have been a really boring conclusion to the movie. A logical mind looks for the twist and the really obvious option is that It's Adam, not Finn. I just thought they'd get more creative than that.
It was blatantly obvious, so much so that I thought that that's what they wanted you to think, but then were going to turn it on it's head.

Andskotinn!

You sensed slowly that the FBI agent had put himself in danger, especially when he told the other agent to go home.

Its that man again!!

reply

Yes, that's exactly what I felt. I also didn't think the handcuffs were going to protect the agent from danger.

reply

Erm no? The film was out in 2001 i assume you didnt wait 14 years to write this so you have probably recently seen it. Thats like saying exorcist is scary 14 years later. You may be able to guess the ending because many more films twist now but this was one of the best. tall man is good

reply

I wouldn't say it was obvious, but I guessed most of the twist the moment Fenton/Adam began his elaborate story. At first I assumed he was telling a Keyser Soze like story in order to lure Doyle into his trap because he was on his "demon list". However, I did not assume there was any truth to Adam and his fathers beliefs (as most people would haha) or that Fenton was in fact, a serial killer.
Also, people on here who say that viewers are making a "lucky guess" are just being rediculous. Obviously some viewers are going to be natural skeptics or have inquisitive kinds, no need to act aggressive or jealous. Same as for those who deduced the twist don't need to act snobbish.

It was obvious, but still had me watching goes I want to see why/how he did it.
