Was Gwenith this hard up for roles?

Its funny I'm watching this on T.V right now and Gwenith at times seems like she has this expression on her face like, "I've made a huge mistake." True to that sister why are you in this movie. Didn't that Oscar do something for your career. I have a hard time buying this material, why would a studio actually do something like this. Come on a movie about flight attendents taking the sky to make their dreams come true.

I think there was alot of post-9/11 re-writes and editing, which is why the film release was delayed, and the movie may not have ended up being what Gwenyth signed on for.

Yes, it ended up being changed extensively, according to Gwyneth in later interviews. Actually, I think she gives a sweet and charming performance (granted, the movie is not Shakespeare).

I really don't think the Oscar helps an actor's career, as much as it is an accolade. Halle Berry has certainly had mixed success after her win.

You know, the movie is not bad, my wife and I enjoyed it. The acting is very good, who cares about the silly plot. I liked it again on DVD. Don't take it too seriously.

It shouldn't be trashed, it's just light hearted fluff and Paltrow/Applegate and even Preston handled it well.

This is one of my favorite movies. I like a lot of the movies she has done. Sure she didn't get an oscar, but it shouldn't be a movie she would be ashamed of. She has variety.

paltrow said that she took this and "shallow hall" to make enough money to afford a pay cut for films like "royal tenenbaums", "sylvia" and "proof".

"they should give nicole kidman an oscar for being able to show any emotion after THAT much botox".

It's ok. Not a masterpiece. But there seems to be something missing in the overall movie. The movie just doesn't jive that well.

I watched it for the first time last night, and I'm sorry to have to say that I yawned my way thought it. At one point I grabbed a magazine laying on the coffeetable, and that magazine was a whole lot more interesting than this flick.
