Yeah that movie was so incredibly stupid. When I saw the trailer, I figured it would be a stupid kind of funny movie...it was just plain stupid. The only person who really managed to salvage the movie, if even that, was Mike Myers. Has anybody else seen it who agrees?
This movie was horrible, i thought the only MINOR funny scene in the movie was the : emFAsis on the wrong syLAble.. But that was in the trailer anyway so anybody thinking about seeing it, go see another awesome comedy like Chicago!
Actually, I had just the opposite reaction. I'm a big fan of Mike Myers, and in fact he was the main reason I saw this movie, but I found myself enjoying the movie only when he was NOT on camera. His performance was incredibly annoying, and the character was basically one extended joke that they just couldn't pull off. He belonged in a different movie, or better yet, no movie at all.
this was an awful movie... its like sweet home alabama and maid in manhattan... when i go to the cinema, i go to it to get meaning and feeling and wonderful pieces of creativity of the screen... not some piece of crap that is there simply to amuse... its really sad that paltrow, an oscar winner! is making this kind of movies... it makes me sick
this movie sucked, and there will probably be a million more of them to amuse and make twelve year old girls gush and laugh
I, as well, thought it would be funny based on previews. However, "A View From the Top" was so bad I wanted to rip my arm off just to have something to do. It wasn't funny and the only time I even cracked a smile was with the "wrong emphasis on the wrong syllable" part, but I'd already seen that in trailers! Gwyneth Paltrow, who is an honorable actor, was flat-out awful, as were the normally funny and witty Christina Applegate and Kelly Preston. Mike Myers was the only aspect of the movie that gave humor an attempt, but unfortunately for the film, he failed. In fact, a group of people in my theater got up and left. . . .and what was with the fight between Gwyneth and Christina? Dear God, I actually said outloud "Don't tell me they're going to cat-fight" because it was so terribly cheesey . . . .to everyone reading, save yourselves (and your time and money) and don't go to see this movie!!! It was the most tedious hour and a half of my life.
I agree. It bit the big one. However, the movie had some good things going for it. I just found that they tried to do too many things in one movie and that the suqencial order wasn't great. However, it wasn't great and was a huge letdown by look of the Trailers. The only thing that made this remotely bearable was that I was surrounded by mates to complain with. Sorry, but even my female friends thought it was utter nonsense.
No, I don't agree. I thought it was okay, obviously not the best of movies, even if it did have two of my favorite actors -- Mark Ruffalo and Mike Myers. As a matter of fact, I only rented it becuase Mark Ruffalo was in it and ended up enjoying the movie better than I thought.

It was a harmless little piece of cliched nonsense, a time passer, but it somehow seemed more awful than it was because it had good actors who we have seen in much, much better things. I kept thinking ' What was it that persuaded all of these people to sign up for this?'
