Why was Woo-jin (North Korean Birthday soldier) shot multiple times?

The first act of the movie hammers on about the idea that he could've only been shot multiple times because someone had a vengeance. What I don't get is, in the Mexican standoff scene, which character has what kind of motivation to shoot this guy multiple times?

I assume the person that shot him multiple times was Sung-shik (the dopey South Korean soldier), although the first killing shot was delivered by the main South Korean soldier.

Can anyone please help me deconstruct what exactly went on there?

reply

because he shot back before dying.
