is english really that hard? im not from an english-speaking country but still my english is far better than that of the actors, jeezzzzzzz.. the bad acting + the english talking sequences made me wanna cry, why couldn't they hire actors who knows how to act, and speak english?
it really destroyed the whole charm of the movie, a real good story got ruined by bad acting, really sucks.
maybe the director was smoking ganja.
Well, I certainly agree with you about Hollywood films (and TV, which tends to be even worse).
The biggest problem, I thought, wasn't her pronunciation per se, but rather her accent. If the character's never been to Korea, then she shouldn't have a Korean accent when speaking English. She should speak at least perfect German (well, Schwyzerdütsch) or French, and thus have either a German or a French accent when speaking English.
I found the English dialogue really awkwardly acted and written, which was only compounded by the fact that Herbert Ulrich didn't seem to be nearly as good an actor as his cast-mates (he also happened to be German, rather than Swedish). I felt like they should have just made the whole film in Korean, which, while unrealistic, would have provided a better cinematic experience.
Oh, this is CRAZY.
A film is not about which language they speak but how they act (I thought it was good.), the atmosphere, the story, camera work etc. etc.
I appreciate it that they speak English because it's an universal language that everybody understands and you don't need subtitles. So it's less uncomplicated and it gives an exotic film like JSA an even more exotic (foreign) touch.
I liked it.
