As Fleur, I'd like to see Emma Watson.
Perfect!
I have to say that when I first saw the 2002 miniseries, I was very disappointed. I thought the real weakness was in the casting. I loved the 1967 version. And because the 1967 version had the luxury of being 26 hours long, it contained so many many more subplots and the characters were more richly developed.
Mind you I love Damian Lewis. But Eric Porter was a better Soames, probably because he was so very homely. Eric Porter was a terrific actor, but good looking, he wasn't. Once they made the decision to make Soames an attractive man, it made Irene's decision not to love him all the more puzzling. And--- let's face it-- in the 2002 version, Irene was sort of a cold fish character anyway.
Oddly, in the 2002 version Irene and Soames did have something in common: they each needed someone
else to bring them to life. Frankly, Irene was rather dull. In the 1967 version, she was more of an enigmatic, yet dynamic character.
