Indeed. Not only that, there are two other things to think about.
1. Lucid dreams can be derailed by powerful thoughts/things within the dream. Memories can be triggered within the Lucid state that transfer over regardless if one knows it's real or not.
2. A dreamer isn't lucid until they RC (reality check). In David's case, he had two common reality checks... A Dream Character (well in his case the tech support guy) telling him what was happening (which I have experienced... many lucid dreamers have recurring dream guides), and a DC being totally stumped by a question (when Kurt Russell's character was asked what his daughter's names were).
So really it's actually quite conducive to LDing.
