"B" means brother. It was an old term used back in the 60's and 70's.

reply

B means black! Seriously.

reply

It's also a classic hip hop thing like B-boy "B standing for breaking" I'ts really a harlem thing more than a general NYC thing.

reply

B means black! Seriously.

wats up black? That doesn't make any sense.

wad up brother, brejin, wats up blood, etc.

reply

What up Black!! Yes people do say that in NYC!

reply

Okay, i believe you. Now go home, have a good night sleep, and then come back on IMDB...

reply

I get plenty of sleep!

reply

u an ass

reply

Back in the 80s, they used to call each other b-boy or b-girl (a la hip hop) and then it was cut down to just "B." It is not short or "black" or anything like that.

reply

what???? how old are you kid?

reply

No, I'm not a kid, idiot. I remember growing up in Harlem as a kid hearing this term.

reply

it means boooyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lol... wtf do u think it means figure it out.

reply

YOu Can't B Serious. B Means "Black"? B Means Blood. People Use B When They Are With The Blood Gang. If They Were Crips They Would Say Cuz.

reply

*beep* How old are you kids??? B means black! FUGG, go to NY one day and you will know what I am talking about!

reply

How old are YOU dude? 'B', like most slang, can be used for different things, particularly in different areas. It can mean Black, as in 'what up Black', Blood, and also Bro, or Brother. Now on the East coast it may very well most commonly be used for 'Black' (not sure just guessing, although I think you'll find that calling each other 'Black' is pretty old skool, its not used that much anymore as far as I know) but on the west coast it's far more likely to be used for Blood amongst members of the Bloods, or Brother for non-Bloods members, otherwise why would the Mexicans say it all the time if it meant Black. Get yo facts straight in the future man.

reply

It was more of an Uptown thing, then it trickled down to Queens and other parts of NY. That's my word B!!! Jamaica Ave!! What!?

reply

B is just B. It's not necessarily short for anything. I'm from New York and I've used the term for over 15 years. I am definitely not a Blood nor was anyone in the movie being portayed as a Blood. For that matter, nor was anyone in New York in the mid to late 80's a Blood. If you follow the context of the film it's just like saying what up man? what up bro? what up kid? B is like a variable. It could mean many things. But more times than not, B is just B. Also, people definitely say "what up Black" from all over, not just from New York.

reply

im from new york and its just like when cali people say wud up bra its just wud up b, its kinda like what up son, or what up my dude, just a way to see how some one is doing or what there doing

so it means basically

whats going on my freind

Fuggin Honk M o t h e r f u k e r!

reply

Actually, you're all correct. I was born & raised in the bronx & it was an abbreviated term for brother, black, b-boy, blood, etc. No need to argue, you're all right!
