The contract in the shovel
Since all those people in San V. are long dead, wouldn't the contract be nullified?

shareI don't know, do souls have an expiration date?
shareI guess they were in some kind of limbo. Which makes it not the best thing they were being kept that way indefinitely. I imagine it was better than the alternative, though, and, supposedly, the hope was one day they'd be freed.
What DID happen to them in the end, though? I don't recall that part of the movie well enough to say.
Entertainment and politics... I see Ellsworth Toohey is winning...
I think Nic Cage killed them all, didn't he? Blue guy finally had a soul (or a few thousand of them) and Cage burnt him up to a crisp because of it. Does that process release the soul to Heaven/Hell? I wonder if there's any mixups... Maybe wind guy inadvertently ended up in Heaven, annoying the heck out of everyone he meets with his You cannot catch the wind! nonsense that got him up there to begin with.
