I just watched this and I couldn't help but to think that the scene where all the souls pass through him and eventually end up in him was a true ripoff of the scene where Deacon frost absorbs all the souls of the pure blood vampires and becomes La Magra or the Blood God... I mean in ghost rider the guy's eyes even turn completely blood red just like Frost's did in Blade...

As you can see, he doesn't look human. He has black-blue spiky skin, a tail, and a mouthless face with red eyes. So when Blackheart undergoes his transformation at the climax of this movie and develops black spiky skin and glowing red eyes, the film-makers are actually referencing his appearance in the original comics.
