who was Eamon to marie?

can someone explain

reply

A friend.

It’s just so sad that the variety of the world should be used as a contentious issue.

reply

He was a friend and she stayed on his farm for a while.

The impression given is that they had some kind of afair when they were together... I guess Eamons wife found out and put an end to it (he says something like "mummy is not here..... thank God!") and there is always that akwardness around the two of them.

Where did you get this from?

reply

From watching the movie.... It's not said, but its for the viewer to make their mind up on.... Within a few scenes I just felt that there was something between them that was more than just friends

reply

I didn't get that feeling. I always assumed they were just friends who met with a bunch of others at Eamon's house.
Eamon saying "Mommy's not here, thank God" was just to tell he's glad his wife doesn't see a former friend and her guy broke into the house. But that's just my opinion.

The "thank God" comment seemed very muttered to me, almost in a way he was saying it to himself, but loud enough Marie heard it.

True, but there are a few comments. when they are cleaning Eamon says "is he good for you?" to Marie, which seems very protective... and Marie replied "you know me".

Maybe looking to much into it, but all teh time it felt to me that Eamon and Marie had history that was not as straight forward as the plot may suggest.

He's muttering it to himself, he doesn't speak to anyone in particular.

I believe Eamon is a good friend, someone who knows Marie quite well and knows about her behaviour or relationships. He seemed almost protective. They were cooking BTW.

As I stated before I don't get that feeling. Eamon seems to be too ordinary to be a love interest of Marie. But who knows? We might never find out.

“Eamon is an ex-boyfriend of Marie Kreutz in the 2002 film The Bourne identity. He was portrayed by Tim Dutton.”

It's stated quite clearly several times in the movie that Eamon is Marie's stepbrother.

reply

No, it's not. Eamon is a friend, Martin Kreutz is her step brother. We see him in Ultimatum. Watch again.

From Ultimatum:

Martin Kreutz: Where's my sister?
Jason Bourne: Why don't you sit down.
Martin Kreutz: Where is she?
Jason Bourne: She's dead. She was killed. I'm sorry.
Martin Kreutz: I knew it was going to end this way. It was always going to end this way.
Jason Bourne: I didn't believe that.
Martin Kreutz: And how did she die?
Jason Bourne: She was shot. We were together in India. He came for me.
Martin Kreutz: Did you kill him?
Jason Bourne: [after a long pause] Yes.

Will Graham: ‘I don’t find you that interesting.’
Hannibal Lecter: ‘You will.’

Just finished Ultimatum. Nowhere does it say in the script that Martin is Marie's step-brother. He refers to Marie as his sister.

I think I will stick with my original thought that Eamon is Marie's step-brother.

reply

One of the FBI guys mentions a step brother, Conclin later says half brother. No 'real' brother is ever mentioned.

OK, there's only one (step)brother who's name is Martin Kreutz. Eamon was her friend, maybe with benefits. But you are free to stick to your version.

Will Graham: ‘I don’t find you that interesting.’
Hannibal Lecter: ‘You will.’

reply

When asked about ANY family she has got, we only get told about "Granny" and the "Half Brother".... that is all, not "Granny, a brother and a half-brother".

We never see the Grandmother, so does that make the old Russian Lady in Moscow sweeping the streets her because she is the only older woman to appear in the series????

reply

Are you responding to me?

I applaud your faith and confidence in the CIA.

reply

Faith and confidence nothing, its just a movie.

For someone they described as a "gypsie" and "drifter", its amazing they got the information they did.

There is still nothing to point at Eamon as a family relation to Marie. Also, if Marie really needed money, they why not simply go to her brother who "always had money"?

reply

^I have money, but I don't expect my siblings in England to suddenly appear on my doorstep asking for money.

reply

True.... but Marie was not scared to take (and ask for) money off a complete stranger, so going to a family member she knows that has money would not be a problem.

reply

Where is it clear?

Fact Marie has a half-brother only gets a passing mention by Conklin ("get a tap on Granny and the Half Brother") once about a quarter of the way through the movie, and Eamon does not appear for about another 45 minutes.

If anything, if you take what Conklin said, they were keeping a eye on Maries Grandmother and Half Brother, and the fact is the Professor only found them because they just happened to go to the one place she lived that was close to Paris ("they can not fly, trains are to risky, so where do they go?").

So I would say there is no clear proof that Eamon and Marie are related, and its just people putting 1 + 1 = 5.... then the theory is totally blown out the window in Ultimatum, where we finally do meet Maries brother.

reply

It's totally not her half/step brother.

Conklin:

What's this yellow pin?

CIA guy:
She spent a couple of months there in 1997.

Wouldn't they have mentioned that it was her brother's place?

Friend?

Men and women cannot be friends, especially when the woman is as attractive as Marie.
They had an affair, likely a long-running one.

reply

According to Wikipedia he's her stepbrother

reply

This information is not true. Wikipedia isn't always a reliable source.
Eamon was a friend, her stepbrother is in Ultimatum though, played by Daniel Brühl. The character's name is Martin Kreutz.

reply

That's just based on assumptions after Conklin mentions putting a tap on "granny and the brother".... After that the brother is never mentioned till Ultimatum, but people think that because Conklin mentioned it and it was never really developed that Eamon must be the half brother.

reply

I find it strange that it took Bourne so incredibly long to tell Marie's brother the news of her death.

reply

There is only something like 6 weeks between the events in Supremacy and the start of Ultimatum.

Remember Bourne had been shot and in a car smash, he needed to time to heal up and think what his next step was (he probably went into hiding somewhere in central Europe to recover)

My initial and final impression is that Marie worked as an au pair for Eamon and his wife but somewhere along the line she and Eamon had an affair that ended her stay but they probably kept in touch over the years since.
