It's not made clear whether he was lying in wait for a while, or made up his rather aggressive strategy on the spot. The implication is that he has been waiting, because Bourne starts looking around his flat for someone. Either way, I'd like to sit him down afterwards and ask him if the strategy of swinging in through the window, randomly firing automatic weapons has been successful for him in the past...

Doesn't seem very "assassin" to me, more like the plan of an incredibly angry moron.

He doesn't have much of a back up plan either, he pulls out a tiny knife, then gets absolutely ruined by Bourne with a pen.

Basically he was terrible and I'm glad he died.

Just realised he also killed the landlady, so presumably he wasn't lying in wait. Still doesn't explain why he bursts through the window armed with only one gun, instead of just shooting Bourne through the window.

Out of all the Treadstone/Blackbryer assassins, Castel is by far the most sloppy and just a trigger happy thug.... even Jarda in Supremacy, who we are suppose to assume is more of a desk guy than a out and out agent, put up a better fight.

Feeling I have always had was he was just there to do the jobs that it was not worth getting agents like Bourne, Mannhiem and the Professor dirty for.

We are suppose to think that there is "meaning" behind all of the kills.... so can only assume that he was making it look like a revenge hit from Wambosie or something.

Maybe he felt he needed to make it a surprise attack since he was going up another assassin. Plus I had always believed that of all the assassins, Bourne was at the top. The best. Maybe he had more training. I think in the 3rd movie they say Bourne was the first. Maybe he was put through a more intense training, and they tweaked their training program as they trained other assassins. Even the Professor did something that made Bourne aware of his presence. That makes me think Castel and the Professor are not on the same level as Bourne.
