Plot Hole

Why would a 2 person family need such a huge and expensive house? This really doesnt make sense.

...a little fantastic, and fleeting, and out of reach.

It is mentioned that Meg is "angry" at her ex-husband, hence she bought a fabulously expensive home as a (financial) punishment for him.

###Spoilers####

At the end they discuss getting a new home which is much, much smaller.

reply

Well, they need some big space for the people to sneak around and hide and stuff, so they need a gigantic house. Still, they could have spent it on something else, like a fancy supercar.

reply

That's not a plot hole.

From what I interpreted, Jodie's character is claustrophobic. When the realtor guy showed her the panic room and closed the door, she was anxious to get out and not-so-politely asked the guy to open the door. And at the end, her daughter and her were looking for houses and the houses her daughter reads out are all huge or have high ceilings. THIS IS NOT A PLOT HOLE. A plot hole is a gap in the storyline that causes inconsistency in the story or goes against the flows of logic of the established story. In this case, the huge house does not not make sense, even is she wasn't claustrophobic.

The agent-friend says she can start again and have another family.

reply

Yeah, not a plot hole.
