Me and my friend nicknamed this film "About Schit" because this movie isn't really about anything. It isn't really entertaining or thought provoking unless u get off to seeing Kathy Bates nude.
I love Jack but this movie just didn't do it for me.
This movie barely scrapes a 6 if we want to keep IMDB voting honest.

I urge you to watch it again. Although this movie is an acquired taste, It IS about something--the fact that we are all getting older; that we will all suffer loss in our lives, and that if we are going to find a helping hand, we had best check the end of our sleeves. Since Warren was an actuary, his business career dealt with arcane sophisticated statistical concepts. Suddenly, in a minute, he is out of a job, retired, and has gone from being the boss to being bossed (by his wife at the house). Then, he loses her when she dies suddenly, then loses her again when he learns of the earlier infidelity, about which he cannot even talk to her. Then, he completes the process of "losing" his only child through marriage to a dolt.
Please watch this movie again.
