The 2 most revealing things in the film...
When Schmidt buys the 2nd cheapest casket for his wife.
When he automatically assumes that a woman who is being nice to him wants to have sex.
This is a very complex character but these 2 scenes really make him look like a royal ass. He redeems himself a bit later and you have plenty of opportunity to be sympathetic but these were really revealing to me.
Usually people will over spend in their grief but he didn't care. His relationship with his wife was very depressing.
